Nayagarh: Locals set ablaze a mini truck that run over a Class VI student, killing him on the spot at Gadabanikilo village in Nayagarh district.
The deceased was identified as Smruti Ranjan Behera (9), a student of Gadabanikilo UGME school. He was hit by the stone-laden mini truck while riding a bicycle to school.
Following the accident, irate locals torched the vehicle. They also blocked Nayagarh-Ranpur road with the student’s body demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased, widening of the village road and arrest of the truck driver.
They lifted the blockade after senior police offers reached the spot and assured action in the case.
