Naveen Inaugurates Vocational Higher Secondary Schools For Visually Challenged & Hearing Impaired
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated Bhima Bhoi Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for the Visually Impaired and Bipin Bihari Choudhury Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for the Hearing Impaired in Bhubaneswar.
Both the schools, located at Bhima Bhoi Govt High School in Unit III of the city, aims at providing Plus II courses to visually challenged and hearing impaired students from different parts of the state. So far, these students were pursuing the Plus II courses in higher secondary schools which lacked special facilities for them.
Besides having hostel facilities for the students, the two new schools will impart vocational education including IT and IT related subjects. While the higher secondary school for visually impaired students offers Plus II Arts courses, the other school is meant for students of Plus II Science students.
Both schools have the provisions of smart classrooms, e-library, science laboratory and games under the 5T initiative of the government. The students are given admission to the schools free of cost.
The chief minister also inaugurated an audio studio for visually challenged and a virtual studio for hearing impaired students. Besides, school bags and sports kits for the students and Braille skit for visually challenged were distributed on the occasion.
Among others, School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marandi, secretary of the department Aswathi S and 5T secretary VK Pandian were present on the occasion.
