Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan sought the personal intervention of Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for facilitating the postmortem of the Odias who died in a road accident in Nepal and repatriation of their bodies.

It may be recalled that two Odia tourists were killed in a road accident in Nepal in the wee hours today. Three more Odia travellers were among 21 others who were injured in the mishap.

The deceased were identified as Charan Biswal (54) of Malipada village and Bijay Jena (52) of Jamuna village in Khurda district’s Jatani police station area.

Three other injured Odia tourists, identified as Sarberswar Jena (55), Sheshadev Jena (53) and Karuna Karjuna Awasthi (63), are in a critical condition and undergoing treatment at Birjung Neuro Hospital, Karki.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at a government health facility in Chandranigahapur municipality for postmortem.

According to sources, the bus carrying 23 pilgrims was going to Kathamandu from Janakpur when it met with an accident at Mangalpur.

The pilgrims belong to Khordha and Puri districts. They had gone to Nepal on June 6.
