Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will attend the 84th Indian Roads Congress (IRC) Annual Session to be held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from November 7-10, Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed on Thursday.
This is for the 6th time that the state government is organising the event, the last time being in 2015 for the 75th IRC session. Over 2,000 delegates from across the country, including engineers, technical experts, policymakers, industry professionals and students and research scholars of IITs, NITs and engineering colleges are expected to attend the annual event, Harichandan added.
The four-day session will feature technical presentations on innovative construction techniques, technologies, and case studies. The 235th council meeting will be held on the inaugural day followed by five technical sessions. The 85th meeting of the Highways Research Board will be held on November 8 followed by seven technical sessions. The 84th business meeting and 236th council meeting of the IRC have been planned on November 9 and 10.
Cultural programmes will also be organised on each of these days.
The IRC is a key platform for sharing expertise and addressing issues in road construction, maintenance, and transport infrastructure, including technology, equipment, research, planning, finance, taxation, and policy.
