New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday held the first meeting of its newly formed 65-member national team, five days after the party announced the appointments. Chaired by national president Nitin Nabin, the meeting marked the beginning of a broader organisational readiness focused on election planning, grassroots outreach and strengthening communication.
Three organisational sessions have been scheduled during the day. The party is also expected to discuss plans to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life.
Preparations for next year’s assembly elections in seven states are likely to dominate the discussions. The party is also expected to begin work on its wider organisational strategy for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
The proceedings began with the recitation of all six stanzas of the national song Vande Mataram.
New Team Gets Its Brief
The opening session is aimed at explaining the responsibilities of the newly appointed office-bearers and assigning specific organisational roles to them.
The discussions are expected to cover coordination with party workers, tracking issues affecting citizens and expanding contact with the organisation at various levels.
The party’s media and digital outreach will also receive attention. The new office-bearers are likely to be told to remain active on social media and develop more effective communication with the press, as reported by The Statesman.
During the day-long programme, Nabin is scheduled to meet state BJP presidents, organisational general secretaries, state in-charges and co-in-charges separately.
Modi Milestone On Agenda
The BJP’s plans to mark Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life form another important part of Saturday’s discussions.
Modi became Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001, and held the post for nearly 13 years. He became prime minister in 2014 and has continued in the position since then.
The party is expected to discuss a nationwide programme and prepare a detailed roadmap for events linked to the milestone.
51 Newcomers In 65-Member Team
The meetings were organised shortly after the BJP unveiled its new national team on August 17. As many as 51 of the 65 members are new entrants.
Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal have retained their positions as national general secretaries. The team also includes Smriti Irani, Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia as general secretaries.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been named national treasurer, while BL Santhosh continues as national general secretary (Organisation).
The reorganisation has also brought changes to the party’s vice-presidential, media, social media and frontal organisation teams.
Piyush Goyal will take charge as the BJP’s national treasurer, while BL Santhosh will continue to oversee the party’s organisational affairs as national general secretary (Organisation).
The latest restructuring has also changed the composition of several key wings, including the party’s vice-presidential, media, social media and frontal organisations.
The meeting was the new BJP team’s first joint organisational exercise. It focused on preparations for the upcoming state elections and the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
