Washington: US President Donald Trump proclaimed Iran is “finished” and pledged that Tehran would get “not ten cents” from the United States, asserting the war had shattered the country’s military power and stripped it of an air force, navy, and vital defence systems.
Through multiple posts on Truth Social, Trump rejected criticism from political adversaries and insisted the war had drastically weakened Iran’s military. “The War has diminished Iran! It doesn’t, any longer, have an Air Force, a Navy, Antiaircraft Equipment, Radar, or practically anything else,” Trump wrote.
The US president also criticised Democrats, taunting claims that Iran could be in a stronger position than months before.
“Yet the Democrats say that Iran is better off now than it was four months ago. Can you imagine getting away with that??? How stupid can some people be???” Trump said.
Trump, moreover, insisted that Tehran, rather than Washington, had pursued contact after the conflict ended.
“We didn’t meet out of desperation, Iran did. They are FINISHED!” he wrote, marking a tough stance as diplomatic negotiations advance.
The president further stated the United States would follow its existing timeline and deliver no financial assistance to Tehran.
“We’ll play out the 60 days. They get no money, not ten cents!” Trump said.
The statements followed a day after Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei directly criticised US President Donald Trump, arguing the American president was “desperate” for a deal and used “all kinds of leverage” to clinch it.
In his first public statement since the US-Iran draft deal was signed, Mojtaba told Iranians on Thursday he had originally opposed the deal “as a matter of principle” but later approved it after receiving promises from President Masoud Pezeshkian and members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council that the country’s interests and those of the “Resistance Front” would be defended.
