Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty surface winds, hail and heavy rainfall may resume in Odisha from Saturday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over east Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather agency has issued orange and yellow warnings till April 30. It further stated that there will be no charge in the day temperature during the next two days, during which the mercury is expected to soar past 42°C in Jharsuguda, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sundergarh, Angul, Sonepur and Kalahandi districts. It will thereafter fall by 3-5°C during the subsequent 3 days.

Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, Sambalpur may continue to reel under heatwave. Hot and humid conditions are also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may also occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, and Nayagarh.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nuapada. There is also a warning for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Boudh, Sonepur, and Balangir districts.
