Bhubaneswar: The Odia community in Australia, under the national umbrella organisation, Orioz Australia has extended support to the victims of Cyclone Fani in Odisha.
Members of the community joined hands across several states and territories in Australia and raised $17,410.00 (Rs. 8.36 lakh). The amount has been transferred to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to rebuild infrastructure and basic amenities in several districts of Odisha.
The community also extended moral support to the victims who were severely affected by the cyclone.
Orioz Executive Committee has also formed a Fani-Support group. The group coordinated several fund-raising efforts across the country.
Besides, several members also reached out to the broader Australian community through organising lunch and morning tea at workplaces, sports events and a Bhajan Sandhya.
