Odisha To Adopt CBSE Pattern For HSC Exam From Next Year

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to adopt the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), from next year.

Talking to the media on Friday, secretary, School and Mass Education, Pradipta Mohapatra said from next year, there would be no OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) test for the students.

“Previously the students were appearing for OMR test carrying 50 marks. As per the new pattern, they will answer five questions of 10 marks each,” he said.

Mohapatra further said to give a final shape to the new system, a committee would be formed under the chairmanship of the BSE president. The committee will have 6-7 members including the Director, Higher Education, one or two District Education Officers (DEOs) and three senior academicians.

“The committee will submit its report within a month after which the department will come up with a gazette notification”, he informed.
