Bhubaneswar: The state administration has listed several security measures for government officers and staff working at Lok Seva Bhawan, Kharavela Bhawan, Rajiv Bhawan, Krushi Bhawan and heads of department building in view of the 12-hour Odisha bandh called by several Opposition parties on Thursday.
“I am directed to say that the members of some political parties including Congress, CPI, CPI (M), CPI (ML) Liberation, Forward Bloc, NCP, Samajwadi Party, etc. have proposed to stage statewide Odisha Bandh on 08.10.2026from 6 AM to 6 PM in shape of staging road blockades, rallies, demonstrations, picketing, rail roko, and closure of mines, government offices educational institutions, markets and commercial establishments across the state over various demands,” OSD-cum-Additional Secretary to Government, Soumendra Patra, wrote to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioner-cum-Secretaries, and Special Secretaries to Government.
“It is therefore advised that the officers and staff of your department working in Lok Seva Bhawan, Kharavela Bhawan, Rajiv Bhawan, Krushi Bhawan and in the Heads of Department Building may be advised to reach office latest by 9.30 AM to facilitate their smooth entry,” the letter added.
Listing the precautionary measures for officers and employees, it said the front gates of the Lok Seva Bhavan will be closed at 10.15 AM on Thursday and all the passage will be regulated through the rear gate. The connecting gate between the Red Building and main Lok Seva Bhawan building will remain open.
Plus, the security check of identity cards of employees and passes of visitors will be intensified . Travelling in a vehicle having car pass entry with valid authority.
In the event of any untoward occurrence, the officials concerned have to inform the OSD-cum-Additional Secretary, Home Department (Phone no. 7008053903), the letter said. The Additional DCP, Secretariat Security (Phone no. 0674-2322522) may also be contacted.
Entry of visitors will be restricted on that day. Persons having prior appointment, whose business is pressing and immediate, will be given entry passes on the recommendations of the department concerned by Special Secretary, Home Department. The visitors should be informed to leave immediately after the meeting, it said.
The letter also asked department heads to advise their employees to remain in their seats and attend to their duties without undue movement.
