Odisha CM Announces 7-Day Relief For Five Flood-Hit Districts

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced gratuitous relief of seven days for flood-affected people in Kalahandi, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur and Balangir districts.

According to official sources, Rs 60 per adult per day and Rs 45 per child per day will be provided in the affected areas for seven days.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister interacted with the collectors of these districts via video conference at the Lok Seva Bhawan here and enquired about their requirements to tackle the situation.

Acting on a report of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) that more than 10 lakh cusecs of water will flow into Mahanadi by the morning on August 15, Naveen directed the collectors of Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Kendrapara to remain on high alert. He also asked them to intensify river bank patrolling to ensure that floodwater does not breach the embankment.
