Odisha Fights COVID-19: No Bol Bom This Year!
Bhubaneswar: In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Odisha government on Saturday announced that no ‘Bol Bom’ devotees will be allowed to congregate, carry water from any water body or walk on public roads to pour on Shivalingas of temples across the state in the month of Shravan (July/August).
Any deviation will be strictly dealt with, said Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena during a press briefing.
All religious places/ places of worship for public will continue to remain closed and all social, political and religious functions/ congregations are prohibited till July 31, a notification issued by his office added.
Earlier, the Dhenkanal administration had clamped Section 144 at 14 major Shiva temples in the district to prevent congregation of ‘Bol Bom’ devotees or kanwariyas on every Shravan Monday in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
