Bhubaneswar: In order to facilitate evacuation of Odia students stranded in war-ravaged Ukriane and its neighbouring countries, the state government has nominated four special representatives.
An official order issued by the Home department stated that a number of people, especially students from Odisha, are still stranded in the war prone Ukraine. Several students and others from Odisha have crossed over to neighboring countries like Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia from where they are being evacuated by Ministry of External Affairs by special flights.
Considering the prevalent situation in the European countries, the state government has decided to nominate special representatives to different countries to coordinate with the Resident Commissioner and the respective countries to ensure smooth evacuation of students and non-resident Odias from Ukraine especially from border location with neighboring countries.
Vikramaditya, vice-president of KIIT University and KISS University (International Relation) has been deputed to coordinate for evacuation from Poland and will also look after overall coordination.
Arushi Ray, senior TDPS Officer, GLDC UNHCR has been assigned to coordinate for the students in Hungary; Baishali Mohanty, UN Policy Officer, WFP Rome for Romania and Anurag Pattnaik, Based in Hungary, Consultant for Slovakia.
The Resident Commissioner office in New Delhi will be the nodal office for the purpose. The entire expenses for the purpose will be met out of CM’s Relief Fund, the order stated.
