Bhubaneswar: Odisha has 13,79,424 unemployed people, who have registered themselves with different District Skill Development-cum-Employment offices in the state by May 31 this year.
Sharing this information while answering a question in the Assembly on Friday, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Samapd Chandra Swain said 1,43,437 of the registered people are diploma and degree holders (technical and nontechnical).
Two employment-based training programmes – Placement Linked Training Programme (PLTP) and Nua Odisha – were being implemented by the Skill Development and Technical Education Department with an aim to reduce the unemployment rate in the state, the Minister said.
Through these programmes, efforts were being taken to ensure that unemployed youths receive skill development trainings and employment, he said.
The District Skill Development-cum-Employment office are also organising job fair and job drives in district levels to help unemployed youths get employment.
