Odisha: Home Department Unaware Of IPS Officer Ashish Singh’s Work Status, Seeks Info From DGP

Bhubaneswar: With IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh neither extending his leave nor resuming the duty, the Home department of Odisha government has sought information about him from the Director General of Police (DGP).

In a letter to the DGP on Thursday, Muralidhar Mallik, OSD-cum-Additional Secretary, Home Department, said Singh was allowed leave for a month on health grounds from May 4.

“More than one month has passed but the department is yet to receive any communication on this matter. It is, therefore, requested to kindly furnish above information to this department for further necessary action,” said Mallik in the letter.

It may be noted that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed Singh to appear before a board of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for a health check-up following complaints from the BJP that the IPS officer was working in favour of the BJD in polls though he was on sick leave.

After a six-member board of the AIIMS submitted its report stating that Singh was mentally and physically fit, the Election Commission had written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha to forward the AIIMS report to the Chief Secretary for necessary action against the IPS officer.
