Odisha Reels Under Intense Heat; 5 Places Record temperature Above 42
Bhubaneswar: The intense heat conditions remained unabated in Odisha as temperature soared above 40 degree Celsius at 12 places on Monday. At 5 places recorded the mercury breached the 42 degree mark.
According to the evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj recorded the highest of 42.6 degree Celsius. The town surrounded by forests was recently in news for wild fires which led to rise in temperature, making life uncomfortable for the locals.
The other places that recorded high temperature are: Balangir (42.5), Jharsuguda (42.4), Sonepur (42.1), Boudh (42), Angul (41.9), Titilagarh (41.6), Sambalpur (41.4), Sundargarh (41), Hirakud (40.9), Bhawanipatna (40.8) and Talcher (40.2).
Balasore also inched closer to the 40 degree mark with the coastal town recording 39.4 degree Celsius on the day.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered maximum temperature of 37 and 36.1 degree Celsius, while coastal town Gopalpur lowest temperature in the state with 30.5 degree Celsius.
