Odisha Vigilance Apprehends Junior Assistant For Taking Bribe
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths of Odisha apprehended a junior assistant in the office of the Chief District Agriculture Officer in Jharsuguda for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 bribe from a man to process his application for drought relief and crop insurance.
The accused, identified as Ajaya Pandey, was caught while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant for processing his application for crop insurance for the Kharif season 2022-23 as well as for facilitating his last year’s drought relief assistance.
The entire bribe money of Rs 20,000/- has been recovered from the accused and seized in presence of witnesses, a vigilance release said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Pandey from Disproportionate Assets angle, it said.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance PS has registered a case and investigation is in progress. Details are awaited.
