Odisha Vigilance Raid State Selection Commission Employee; Recover Over Rs 3.79 Cr Property
Bhubaneswar: Huge sum of cash and gold ornaments were recovered from the house of Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), Biranchi Narayan Sahoo and that of his relatives during a raid by the Vigilance sleuths.
Assets worth Rs 3.79 crore were traced during searches conducted by the Vigilance at six places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, including Sahoo’s residence at Niladri Vihar, said Vigilance SP, R Prakash.
Sahoo assets included two double-storey buildings at Niladri Vihar, 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Khurda, insurance deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, Rs 12 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 60 lakh. Another Rs 13 lakh cash was seized from his relative’s house.
The investigating agency also found bank slips indicating huge cash deposits in bank accounts along with recruitment-related applicant admit cards.
“The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
