Bhubaneswar: Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC) has signed a MoU with the World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, under its CSR initiatives to provide advanced skill training to youth from 5 districts of Odisha where its units are situated.
“Under this CSR initiative, OHPC will sponsor the training of 60 students belonging to marginalised communities from Angul, Koraput, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Sambalpur districts. Through this support, OHPC aims to bridge the skill gap and empower young individuals with in-demand technical and service-sector competencies that align with global industry standards,” the SPU said in a release.
The selected candidates will undergo intensive training at the World Skill Center in specialized programmes such as Beauty & Wellness, Vertical Transportation, Precision Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Services, Electrical Technology, and AC & Refrigeration. Besides hands-on learning, these courses with cutting-edge facilities, and structured apprenticeship pathways, will help improve employability prospects of the trainees, it further stated.
Director (HR), Sandeep Patnaik, representing OHPC and Additional Secretary, SD & TE Dept.-cum-COO Pinaki Patnaik representing WSC, signed the MoU. “This CSR-driven collaboration underscores OHPC’s dedication to uplifting communities around its operational areas by creating future-ready talent and supporting the socio-economic advancement of Odisha,” the release added.
