New Delhi: Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thappa died after his residence was hit by Pakistani shelling in Rajouri, J&K CM Omar Abdullah posted on X on Saturday.
This occurred amid intensified shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ strikes against terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
According to reports, loud explosions have been heard in Srinagar and Jammu since early morning. Multiple locations, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, have come under attack. A civilian building was hit in Jammu city. Pakistan also attempted to attack Aap Shambu Temple in Jammu, but the missile landed near the temple gate, causing no damage to the sacred site. Jammu Police and other agencies are retrieving projectile fragments.
In Pathankot, the Air Force neutralised over 15 drone attacks. “…This has been happening continuously since 4 am today. But we are very thankful to our Indian Army and Air Force, who are intercepting and destroying the shells and drones coming from Pakistan in mid-air…” a local told IANS.
A UAV was also shot down at Majra in Himachal Pradesh, near the airbase.
The union government is scheduled to hold a detailed briefing on the attack launched by Pakistan and India’s retaliation at 10 am.

According to Guardian, Pakistan is carrying out these strikes under the name Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos, an Arabic phrase meaning ‘wall of lead’, which it claims is in retaliation to the alleged missile attack on its three air bases.
