Bhubaneswar: As COVID-19 continues to spread panic among the common people, the doctors on duty in hospitals for treating coronavirus patients too are not safe.
According to reports, more than 300 employees of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here have suffered from COVID-19 infection in the first 17 days of the New Year.
The infected include nurses and other paramedical staff, who contracted the infection between January 1 and 17, 2022. It may be mentioned that the state has been recording over 10,000 cases since last week.
On Saturday, the hospital authorities had decided to stop walk-in OPD services at all specialities and super-speciality departments in the hospital temporarily from January 17 after many faculties, staff and students of the institution were found infected with COVID-19.
Patients who have made registrations online can meet doctors in the departments by showing their online booking number at the entry gate, AIIMS said in a release.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar stated in a notification that ‘Swasthya’ app and telemedicine (WhatsApp call) services will continue to function. Patients are being encouraged to connect more digitally instead of visiting the OPDs physically. Telemedicine services will be functional from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, on all working days.
Similarly, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya app will be operational from 8.30 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday on all working days.
