New Delhi: The X accounts of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and ex-minister Bilawal Bhutto have been blocked in India amid the rising tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack.
The X accounts of both Pakistani politicians have been withheld in India. This has been done “in response to a legal demand”, according to the social media platform.
Earlier this week, the central government blocked the Instagram accounts of several Pakistani actors in India, including Hania Amir, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar.
Their accounts displayed the automated message that they were not available in India. The platforms stated that the accounts were not available because “we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
Earlier this week, India had also banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for spreading provocative, communally sensitive content and misinformation against India. These channels also included several Pakistani media houses.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s YouTube channel was also blocked in India on Friday.
Bhutto, the son of the slain former PM Benazir Bhutto, had warned that blood would flow in the Indus River if India blocked the waters.
Imran Khan had described the Pahalgam terror attack as “deeply disturbing and tragic.” But he had also warned India to act responsibly.
“Peace is our priority, but it should not be mistaken for cowardice. Pakistan has got all the capabilities to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure, as my government, backed by the whole nation, did in 2019. I have always emphasised the importance of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as guaranteed by United Nations resolutions,” Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases, said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
