Rourkela: A complaint was filed at Plant Site police station in Odisha’s Rourkela on Saturday, a day after numerous Palestine flags were spotted during ‘Eid Milad-un-Nabi’ celebration to mark Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary in Mahtab Road area.
According to sources, the entire Mahtab Road stretch was dotted with Palestine flags during the celebration and procession organised by a local madrasa, which saw participation of several thousands of people. The participants also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, prompting public criticism over the local administration’s inaction.
Incidentally, the area where the flags were spotted is just a few hundred metres from the Plant Site police station.
Earlier speaking to the media, BJP spokesperson Dhiren Senapati condemned the flag display, calling it an attempt to disrupt communal harmony, divide society, and undermine national unity. He urged police and authorities to act to prevent future occurrences.
Plant Site IIC Bibatsha Pradhan, however, told TNIE that no action is being contemplated against the use of Palestine flags.
