New Delhi: A day after the 38-year-old daughter-in-law of Kamla Pasand pan-masala owner was found dead in her Vasant Vihar home, police sources said investigators have recovered a diary in which she mentioned “relationship issues,” adding a new layer to the probe into her suspected suicide.
According to officers, the diary was recovered from her bedroom during a detailed search conducted after the autopsy. While she did not name anyone, one of the entries referred to ongoing problems in her personal relationship. Police also found what is being treated as a suicide note, though it similarly does not attribute blame to any individual. Investigators said both documents are now being analysed to understand her state of mind in the days leading up to her death.
The woman, who lived with her husband and two children, was found hanging in the dressing room on Tuesday afternoon. Her husband reportedly discovered her when he returned home from the gym and immediately rushed her to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Earlier, the couple’s children had left for school in the morning, leaving her alone at home.
Her brother has accused the husband and in-laws of subjecting her to harassment and claimed that the husband had “remarried” and tortured her. He also alleged that she had earlier taken refuge in her parental home before being brought back by the family with assurances that her situation would improve. However, the family’s lawyer has refuted all charges, calling them “baseless,” and emphasised that neither the diary nor the note names or incriminates anyone.
Police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which deals with suspicious and unnatural deaths. No FIR against the husband or in-laws has been filed at this stage. Officers said the post-mortem has been completed and the contents of the diary, along with forensic examination of the note, will guide the next steps of the investigation.
