New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three-country Europe trip has been postponed due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan post ‘Operation Sindoor’, official sources confirmed on Wednesday.
He was scheduled to travel to Croatia, Norway for the Nordic Summit, and The Netherlands from May 13-17.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had cancelled his visit to Moscow to attend Russia’s Victory Day Parade on May 9 as tensions simmered between India and Pakistan after the terror attack in Pahalham ion April 22 in which 26 people were killed.
According to reports, PM Modi monitored Operation Sindoor, codenamed in honour of widows of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, last night, during which Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terror camps, including Bahawalpur which is a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit, in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).
Later, he chaired a meeting of the Union Cabinet and praised the armed forces for their “commendable job” and “immaculate execution”. “The whole country was looking up to us. We are proud of our Army,” he said.
More than 80 terrorists linked to banned outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in the swift and coordinated predawn blitz lasting just 25 minutes. The operation was executed exactly as planned, with “no mistakes whatsoever”, he added.
The Prime Minister also met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapti Bhawan to brief her on the success of Operation Sindoor by Indian Armed Forces.
