The villagers, residing near a hill, earlier did not feel safe venturing out of their houses at night. “We faced a lot of problems at night. Now, we go out even after sunset without any fear,” they added.
Narayan narrated his experience of watching the live telecast of Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath from Puri, sitting at home. “We are watching our Prime Minister now,” he added with a smile.
The Prime Minister said the government had changed the situation in eastern India, where 14,582 of 18,000 villages had no electricity connection. As many as 5790 villages were in the North-East, he said.
