New India: Donald Trump and his US administration have been trying to propagate the theory that it was through their mediation and negotiations that India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement on Saturday to stop all military actions on land, air and in the sea.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear on Monday evening that it was a scared Pakistan which reached out for an end to the conflict after escalating tensions through drone attacks post Operation Sindoor which was launched to target terror hubs only.
“After India’s aggressive action, Pakistan started looking for ways to escape. Pakistan was appealing to the world to reduce tensions and after being badly beaten, the Pakistani army contacted our DGMO on the afternoon of May 10. By then, we had destroyed the infrastructure of terrorism on a large scale and the terrorists were killed. Therefore, when Pakistan said that it would not show any further terrorist activity and military audacity, India also considered it,” Modi said.
Without mentioning the US, the Indian PM also debunked suggestions that the two rival nations will talk post the ceasefire.
“There can only be talks on PoK and cross-border terrorism.. no other issue,” Modi firmly said.
