Bhubaneswar: Ama Bus services will be diverted on several routes in Bhubaneswar on Friday in view of traffic restrictions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha to attend a public event at Janata Maidan, commemorating the completion of one year of the Mohan Majhi government in the state.

“Ama Bus route nos. 09, 10,12,13,17,18,21,23,26,27,28,30,36,37,39, 40,47 & 66 will be diverted on 20th June 2025 (Friday) from 2 pm to 6.30 pm due to traffic restrictions imposed for administrative exigency in Bhubaneswar,” the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which operates the public transport service,  posted on X.

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police had earlier requested CRUT for diversion of Ama Bus services operating between NALCO Square and Airport Square since the PM is scheduled to proceed to the event venue from BPIA in a roadshow. “In view of the anticipated crowd and in order to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety, it is kindly requested to divert Ama Bus service operating between NALCO Square and Airport Square on the said date,” the letter from Commissioner of Police said.

Arrival

PM Modi is scheduled to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 3.40 pm. A traditional Odia cultural welcome will greet the Prime Minister at the airport.

Roadshow

The Prime Minister will hold a road show, take part in a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ en route to Janata Maidan from 3.45 pm to 4.15 pm. The route will feature vibrant Odia folk music and dance performances, showcasing the state’s cultural heritage.

Public Meeting

The event at at Janata Maidan will be held from 4.15 pm to 5.30 pm during which PM Modi will unveil Odisha’s Vision Document, outlining a long-term roadmap for the state’s growth. He will also launch new development and welfare projects totalling Rs 17,000 crore.

Central and state ministers, MLAs and MPs, besides party workers from all the 147 assembly segments and Lok Sabha constituencies, will take part in the anniversary celebrations.

Modi will address a large gathering at the event, which is expected to draw over one lakh attendees, before departing for New Delhi at around 5.50 pm.

Security Arrangements

A total of 133 platoons of force along with over 500 officers will be deployed as part of the PM’s security arrangements. Nearly 20 senior officers, including Additional DCPs, DCPs, IGs, and Additional DGs, are overseeing the arrangements. Control rooms have been set up to monitor the security arrangements.

The city has been declared a ‘No-Drone, No-Fly’ zone from the airport to the event venue to ensure safety.

Central Armed Police Forces and other central agencies are also involved in ensuring foolproof security. Measures such as anti-sabotage checks, traffic management, crowd control, and anti-terror vigilance have been strengthened from airport to the event venue.

A traffic advisory has also been issued for the PM’s roadshow.

Earlier in the day, Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an on-site inspection at Janata Maidan, reviewing infrastructure and ensuring all logistical arrangements are on track for the large-scale event. The state government has deployed 60 OAS officers to oversee the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
