Bargarh: Two persons of a family died while another is critically ill after a man allegedly gave poison to his wife and daughter before consuming the toxic substance himself.
The incident was reported from Beniachal village in Bijepur of Bargarh district on Saturday night. The deceased have been identified as Ratha Mahananda and his daughter Kavita Mahananda.
Sources claimed that the man mixed poison in the food and gave it to his wife and daughter before consuming it himself.
Neighbours took the trio to the community health centre (CHC) at Beniachal where the doctor declared both father and daughter dead, while the woman, in critical condition, is currently undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla. Though the exact reason behind this incident is yet to be ascertained.
Bijepur police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
