Puri: Ahead of the sacred Snana Purnima, the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will remain closed for public darshan from 10.30 pm on Saturday for necessary preparations for the special rituals associated with the annual bathing ceremony.
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the Snana Yatra of the sibling deities will be observed on Monday (June 29) on the auspicious occasion of Jyestha Shukla Purnima. In preparation for the sacred bathing ceremony and associated rituals at the Shree Mandira, the temple administration has decided to temporarily suspend public entry.
The restriction on public entry will continue until the completion of the preparatory rituals, after which devotees will be allowed darshan as per the scheduled timings.
“On Monday, 29.06.2026, Jyestha Shukla Purnima, the Snanajatra of Mahaprabhu will be observed. In view of the special rituals and advance preparations at the Shree Mandira, public darshan will remain suspended from 10:30 PM on Saturday, 27.06.2026, until approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday, 28.06.2026,” the official notice of SJTA stated.
The annual Snana Yatra is regarded as one of the most significant rituals at the Jagannath Temple, during which the deities are taken out for a ceremonial bath. The event attracts large congregations of devotees, necessitating strict crowd management and elaborate ritual arrangements by the temple administration.
