Berhampur: Ragging has raised its ugly head again in MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in Odisha’s Berhampur.
According to sources, a first-year student had accused some second-year students of ragging and forcing him to do their tasks. The junior, in a complaint to the anti-ragging cell, claimed he was mentally and physically tortured if he refused to obey the orders of the seniors.
The student’s parents have also written to the dean regarding the alleged ragging in the college.
Based on the complaint, the anti-ragging cell of the medical college has called for a meeting this afternoon to thoroughly investigate the matter. The next hearing will be on Tuesday.
Dean-cum-principal of MKCG MCH, Suchitra Dash, reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. “The anti-ragging committee of the medical college will investigate the allegation. The committee meeting will be held on Monday to decide the next course of action,” the dean informed.
She also warned of stringent action against students if they are found involved in ragging.
This comes almost a month after five MBBS fourth-year students of the government-run college were expelled from the hostel for allegedly ragging juniors.
