Republic Day: ITBP Marches With Tricolour At 17,000 Feet

New Delhi: Braving inhospitable conditions, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel marched with the national flag at 17,000 feet above sea level in Ladakh to mark the country’s 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday.

The ITBP personnel, which included men and women, celebrated the event at minus 25 degree Celsius, reported news agency IANS.

Also referred to as the ITBP ‘Himveers’, the personnel chanted: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Matram”.

However, another team of ITBP personnel paraded at 14,000 feet at the Border Out Post in Ladakh. The ITBP men were seen in a video trudging slowly through the fresh snow.

The specialised mountain force, ITBP safeguards the 3,488 km border — from Ladakh’s Karakoram Pass to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.
