According to a blend of road research and ancient Vedic beliefs, the answer might surprise you, especially if you’ve been eyeing that sleek black beauty.
A well-known 2017 study from Australia’s Monash University Accident Research Centre, which examined thousands of police-reported crashes, found that black cars carry about a 12 per cent higher risk of accidents compared to white ones. The reason? Lower visibility in daylight, rain, fog or at night.
Grey, silver, blue, green and even red followed closely behind in the danger list because they blend into the surroundings more easily.
But the story goes deeper into Indian astrology and Vastu. Black is strongly linked to Shani (Saturn) — the planet known for discipline, delays and obstacles.
