Puri: In a tragic incident, a woman and her minor son died after drowning in a pond at Bedhaband village under Kakatpur block in Puri district on Thursday.
The deceased are Rita Mishra and her son Prabhu Mishra.
According to reports, Prabhu slipped and fell into the pond while sailing a miniature boat on the eve of Kartik Purnima. To rescue her son, Rita too went into the pond and drowned.
Locals rescued the two and rushed them to a hospital at Charichhak where the doctor declared them dead.
Kakatpur police station IIC Sushant Sahu seized the bodies and investigation into the matter is on.
