Mumbai: Ahead of the release of his much-awaited film ‘Sikandar,’ Salman Khan stirred up a controversy by sporting a Ram Janmabhoomi watch.
As soon as the actor shared photos of himself rocking the orange Titanium edition watch, a section of Islamists took to social media to slam the actor for apparently mocking at Muslims.
Some even called him ‘Murtad’ (traitor) and demanded boycott of ‘Sikandar.’
“Wearing a Zionist co Watch with Ram Janm Bhoomi edition mocking Muslims,” tweeted one person.
“Muslim must boycott murtad salman khan alakozai durrani, in 1992 muslim lost their life for babri masjid and he is wearing watch of ram janmabhomi he is literally mocking shaheed muslims of 1992,” wrote another.

Even, Bareilly cleric and All India Muslim Jamaat president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi called out the actor for wearing the watch and urged him to refrain from activities promoting non-Muslim things.
“I have been asked about Shariat’s ruling about Salman Khan. I tell you the Shariat’s ruling about the work done by him, that he is wearing a Ram Edition watch made for the promotion of Ram Mandir. Wearing such a watch in hand being a Muslim is illegal and haram,” the cleric was quoted as saying by PTI.
“Salman Khan is a famous personality of India. He has millions of fans and he is also a Muslim. If any Muslim, even if it is Salman Khan, is promoting the Ram Mandir or any other non-Muslim thing, it is considered illegal and haram. I urge Salman Khan to follow the principles of Shariat,” the Maulana added.
