Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday hailed the ceremonially hoisting of a saffron flag — Dharma Dhwaj — at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a shining example of ‘shankalp se siddhi’ (pledge to fulfilment).
“This flag hoisting is not just an ordinary ritual. It is a result of a movement that has been ongoing for years, with countless sacrifices and struggles. This is itself a shining example of ‘Sankalpa se Siddhi,” Majhi posted on X.
He further noted that this auspicious ceremony was testimony to India’s Sanatan faith, glorious culture, and historical pride. “On this proud and magnificent moment of Shri Ayodhya Dham, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the citizens of the country. Along with this, I offer crores and crores of pranams (salutations) to the countless devotees of Lord Ram who, through their efforts, sacrifices, and dedication, have paved this sacred path,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ceremonially hoisted the saffron flag, signifying the completion of the temple’s construction.
The right-angled triangular flag, measuring 10 feet in height and 20 feet in length, bears the image of a radiant Sun symbolising the brilliance and valour of Bhagwan Shri Ram, with an ‘Om’ inscribed on it along with the image of the Kovidara tree.
The PM said the “wounds and pain” of centuries are healing as a 500-year-old resolve is finally being fulfilled with the formal completion of the shrine. “… This Dharma Dhwaja is not just a flag. It is the flag of the rejuvenation of Indian civilization. The saffron colour, Suryavansh’s signia, the ‘Om’ word, and the Kovidara tree impersonate Ram Rajya’s glory. This flag is a resolution, a success, a story of struggle to creation, a physical form of the struggle of 100s years… For the coming thousands of centuries, this flag will proclaim Lord Ram’s values… Truth is Dharma… There should be no discrimination or pain, and there is peace and happiness… There should be no poverty, and no one is helpless…,” he said.
The vision of Ram Rajya must guide India’s future, the Prime Minister said, adding, “This is possible only when national interest comes before self interest, and remains supreme.”
