Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to be in the grip of heat wave with as many as seven places recording the day temperature above 40 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
Sonepur recorded the highest temperature of 40 degrees Celsius followed by Balangir at 42.3 degrees Celsius.
Other places that recorded above 40 degrees Celsius are Hirakud (41.7), Jharsuguda (41.6), Sambalpur (41.5), Talcher (41.5) and Bhawanipatna (40.5).
According to a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Koraput by 11 pm.
