Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for three districts of Odisha till 6 pm on Wednesday.
Severe thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph and light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts in the next 2 hours.
In the midday bulletin, the weather agency had warned of thunderstorm/lightning with surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada and Balangir till 8.30 am on Thursday.
Hot and humid conditions may also prevailat one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
The IMD further stated that thunderstorm activity may continue in the state till May 25.
