Bengaluru: Karnataka’s leadership churn intensified on Wednesday as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he was ready to travel to Delhi if called by the Congress high command, just hours after Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar posted a cryptic message widely read as a reminder of an alleged power-sharing pact.
Siddaramaiah told reporters that he had no information yet from the party but would go to Delhi “whenever the high command calls me”. His remarks came amid renewed speculation over whether the Congress will effect a mid-term change in the chief minister’s post.
Shivakumar, meanwhile, triggered fresh political buzz with an enigmatic post on X. Sharing a line that read, “Word power is world power – the biggest force in the world was to keep one’s word,” he added his own caption: “Keeping one’s word is the greatest strength in the world!” The message immediately set off conversations about the reported commitment made in 2023 that the CM’s chair would rotate midway through the government’s term.

According to the report, party president Mallikarjun Kharge is expected to hold a meeting in Delhi to address the growing confusion over the leadership issue, with both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar likely to be called for discussions. The meeting is being viewed as the Congress high command’s attempt to quell the escalating whispers within the party and bring clarity to the situation.
The cryptic post, Siddaramaiah’s readiness to fly to Delhi, and the impending high-level talks have once again revived debate on whether the supposed 2023 arrangement — never officially confirmed by the party — will be honoured or quietly set aside.
