SOA Organises Awareness Programme On Drugs Abuse For Students In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In order to promote awareness among students about the dangers of use of drugs and its legal complexities, the National Social Service (NSS) unit of SOA in Odisha capital organised a programme on Thursday.

Speaking at the programme, organised ahead of the International Drug Abuse Day on June 26, Biswanath Ghosh, Intelligence Officer in the Narcotics Control Bureau under the Union Home ministry explained about various drugs and the dangers they posed to the society. He advised the students against carrying drugs in person as it would violate the law of the land.

SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Mahapatra told the students how they should keep away from such dangerous substances.

Prof Nachieketa K Sharma, Director of University Outreach Program and Coordinator, NSS, read out a report on various anti-narcotics programmes conducted by the university over the last five years.

Prof Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) and Prof Bijay Kumar Sahu, Dean, Institute of Agricultural Sciences also spoke at the programme which was attended by faculty members, NSS programme officers and over 300 NSS volunteers.
Prof Saroj Kumar Mohanty, NSS Programme Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
