Suzuki Jimny Confirmed For India; Might Be Renamed As ‘Gypsy’
After years of ‘No’, it is finally yes for the Suzuki Jimny in India. Suzuki Jimny is expected to be launched here by the end of 2019.
According to a report in NDTV Car & Bike, the Jimny could be renamed as the ‘Gypsy’ which has a cult following in India.
The Jimny/Gypsy will be sold at NEXA outlets to keep a premium positioning.
It is expected that the long-wheelbase version of the Jimny Sierra with 5 doors will be launched in India. The length of the vehicle is reported to be around 3645 mm. It will come with soft top and hard top options, and 4WD variants as well.
The Jimny will most likely be powered by the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that is used in the Ciaz and Ertiga. It will made at Maruti’s Gujarat plant.
The prices of the Jimny/Gypsy are expected to be in the range of Rs 8-11 lakh.
