New Delhi: Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan recently reviewed activities of Talcher Fertilizer project in New Delhi.
The fertilizer project at Talcher at Odisha developed by Talcher Fertilizers Limited (TFL), a joint venture of the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), Coal India Ltd (CIL), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (RCF) and Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd (FCIL), shall be India’s first coal gasification-based urea production facility of 1.27 MMTPA installed capacity at an estimated investment of Rs. 11,600 crore.
The meeting revealed that the proposed project has received environment clearance and selection of coal gasification technology.
Talking to mediapersons, TFL Ceo JS Saini said that the tenders are under evaluation for the coal gasification unit and those for ammonia and urea plants have also been floated. The Project site at Talcher is under readiness, he added.
Among others, BC Tripathi, CMD and Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, Director (Projects), GAIL were present.
TFL has been allotted captive coal mine in the Talcher region. Mine development activity has commenced and shall ensure steady supply of the feedstock for maintaining continuous operations of the plant.
Full-fledged project activities are expected to commence at Talcher site within a month and commissioning by 2022.
