Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for 11 districts of Odisha, including Cuttack city, till 5.30 pm on Wednesday.
Moderate thunderstorm/lightning, along with gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and moderate rain may affect some parts of Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh and Cuttack (including Cuttack city) in next 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
IMD Forecast For June 11
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

The weather agency further stated that conditions are likely to become favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon over some more parts of central and adjoining east India around June 14. The progress of monsoon has remained stalled since May 29 following its early onset. Experts had then opined that it will gather steam only after a fresh weather system forms.
While a cyclonic circulation currently lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Coastal Andhra Pradesh coast, another over north Odisha & neighbourhood has become less marked.
