Kota: A violent incident was reported from a top coaching centre in Rajasthan’s Kota on Friday evening after a 16-year-old JEE aspirant attacked his classmate on the head with a toy gun.
The 16-year-old victim, from Bihar, started bleeding after being struck on the head with the butt of the toy gun during an altercation with the student from Uttar Pradesh.
A video circulating on social media shows the boy collapsing on the floor after being hit. He is then carried out by other students.
The incident occurred within the limits of Jawahar Nagar police station and led to chaos in the coaching complex as students gathered at the spot. The injured student was bleeding and was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he remains admitted as of Saturday. Doctors described his condition as out of danger, the police said, as reported by The Times of India.
Both minors study in the same class and were preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), the police said. The dispute began as a verbal clash and escalated when the student from Uttar Pradesh allegedly attacked the Bihar student with the toy gun butt, causing a head injury.
The victim lives in Kota with his mother. Based on a complaint filed by the mother, Jawahar Nagar police registered a case against the other minor and began an investigation.
The fight arose from a sudden dispute between the classmates, circle inspector Mukesh Meena said. Due to both being minors, further details were being withheld, he said, adding that a case has been registered under relevant legal sections.
