Two More Doctors, Six Jail Inmates Test Positive For COVID-19 In Odisha

Rourkela: Two doctors of Rourkela Government Hospital and six jail inmates are among the 18 persons, who have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 12 hours in Sundargarh district.

Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan informed that 14 of the 18 fresh cases have been detected in quarantine centres while two are in home quarantine and as many local contacts.

“Two doctors, who were earlier on COVID-19 duty, have tested corona positive and the hospital is being sanitised. Efforts are on for contact tracing and the two doctors have been sent on quarantine,” said Kalyan.

While the other 14 had recently returned to the district from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Bhadrak and Jajpur, the six prisoners were lodged at Special jail in Rourkela, DM, Sundargarh, tweeted.

With two more doctors testing positive for the virus, the number of affected medics in the state has gone up to five.

On Saturday, a doctor working at a COVID hospital in Angul district had tested positive for coronavirus. The 35-year-old doctor was later shifted to the COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Another doctor of the City Hospital in Cuttack and a junior doctor of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier.
