Union Minister Asks Officials To Prepare Knowledge Roadmap In Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday directed Nabarangpur district officials to draw up a knowledge roadmap for 10 years.

Reviewing the functioning of his department in the district with senior officials during his one-day visit, Pradhan took stock of various programmes including capacity building of teachers and lecturers in primary and higher education institutions, promotion of skill development and strengthening entrepreneurhsip capacity of the locals and their employment.

Speaking at the meeting, the minister said though the district registers admission of 100% children, nearly 50% of them drop out due to socio-economic conditions. Most of the drop-out students have been found to be highly talented, he added.

Since the students of Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Schools are qualifying in JEE Advance and Niser tests, they can be self-reliant and successful entrepreneurs, if the district carries out knowledge and skills mapping. Pradhan further said since Nabarangpur is one of the aspirational districts in the country, the Centre has been stressing on skilling and education of the children.

Stating that 115 km of road under the Centre’s Bharatmala project linking Raipur with Visakhapatnam goes through Nabarangpur, he said the district has been leading in land acquisition process. On completion of the project, the district would witness substantial socio-economic development, he hoped.
