Vigilance Apprehends Dy Executive Engineer While Taking Rs 50,000 Bribe In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Vigilance has apprehended a deputy executive engineer while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 in Odisha’s Angul district.

Following a complaint filed by a contractor alleging that Sarat Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Executive Engineer (DEE), Lift Irrigation (LI), Angul was demanding the bribe to hand over electrical estimate of two projects and release the withheld amount of civil cost, the Vigilance set up a trap.

As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Pradhan. While the DEE was accepting the money, Vigilance sleuths nabbed him red-handed. The entire bribe money was recovered from Pradhan and seized.

Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on two properties of Pradhan from DA angle.

Cuttack Vigilance has filed a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Pradhan.
