Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended a revenue inspector (RI) while accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Following a complaint that Pradeep Kumar Gouda, revenue inspector, Gangapur under Belaguntha tehsil in the district was demanding the bribe to submit the enquiry report to tehsildar in connection with valuation of existing structure on land to be purchased by the complainant, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complaint went to give the bribe to Gouda and the Vigilance sleuths caught him red-handed while accepting the gratification money. The Vigilance officials seized the entire bribe amount from the possession of the RI.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations of Gouda from DA angle.
Berhampur Vigilance has registered a case under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
