New Delhi: A serene, picture-perfect picnic spot turned into a scary experience for a group of people enjoying a day out.
Chaos and panic took over as a wild elephant emerged from the forest and wandered into the scenic spot beside a stream. The visitors were caught off guard as the pachyderm, obviously not happy to see the humans, started chasing them.
The families were forced to abandon their food and belongings, as they scurried for safety and ran in all directions to escape the rampaging jumbo.
Amid the chaos, a woman can be heard shouting, “Don’t run!” in an attempt to control the situation.
The elephant, after causing alarm, crosses the shallow stream, passes a car and makes its way to the opposite bank, before disappearing into the woods.
Fortunately, there were no injuries.
IFS officer Parveen Kaswan shared a video clip of those dramatic moments on social media platform X, which has since gone viral.
Tell me whose mistake it is. Why to chose location for picnic where the elephants are moving usually. In search of beautiful location please don’t put life in danger. pic.twitter.com/heteJAk0rt

Along with the video, Kaswan raised awareness about the dangers of human encroachment on wildlife corridors.
“Tell me whose mistake it is. Why choose a location for a picnic where elephants usually move? In search of beautiful locations, please don’t put life in danger.”
His post garnered more than 152,000 views, and counting, triggering a wave of reactions online.
Several users agreed with Kaswan, and stressed on the need for stricter regulations and greater respect for wildlife territories.
“Why can’t the government or authorities put strict rules and make it no entry?” asked one user.
“Animals have a greater sense of civic behaviour than many human tourists,” commented another person.
“I’m on the elephant’s side. Humans leave no space. Just imagine trying to use your washroom and there are people crowding around!” remarked one user.
Defending the elephant, one person noted, “It’s the home of an elephant, not a place for humans,” while another stated, “Why are these areas open to the public if we care about human and animal life?”
Some other comments read, “Let these majestic creations of God live in peace,” and “Humans arrogantly believe they are the lords of the earth.”
