Woman Found Dead In Odisha Capital: Police Ascertain Identity, Unfold Murder Sequence
Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police unfolded the murder of a woman whose body was found inside a vehicle near Mahavir temple at Sriram Nagar area near Samantarapur in the early hours of Monday.
Giving details to the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu said the police, during the investigation, had seized some articles from the vehicle and found photographs and the details of the deceased.
“From these articles, police identified the deceased as Tanuja Aich of Mangalpur in Jajpur district. On contacting her family members, they got to know that Tanuja and her husband Sangram Aich often quarreled because of which they were summoned by police on a number of occasions in the past.
“Maintaining that Sangram had murdered Tanuja, a kin, Narendra Kumar Jena, demanded stern action against him. He also requested the police to register a case and slap stringent sections under the IPC against him so that he could be hanged to death,” the DCP said.
Police suspect that after killing Tanuja as alleged by the family members, Sangram, in a bid to come clean, had hit the vehicle to give the impression that she died in an accident.
“The accused, after committing the crime, absconded with his son. He will soon be arrested,” the DCP pointed out.
Some locals had found the body of a woman lying near the driver’s seat inside a Tata Safari (OR-O2-AM-2600) near Samantarapur earlier in the day and informed Lingaraj police.
